Letter from Mayor Bobby Graham
Thank you for visiting the Town of Gilbertown website.
This small town is waiting to show you the hospitality that the local residents have come to expect. We are a very conscientious community, in that we are expecting great things to happen, not by change, but through hard work and vision for a growing community.
The business community of Gilbertown is vibrant and wants to meet you and show you what we have to offer. We are very diverse in the retail and service portion of what the entire south end of Choctaw County has come to expect.
The residential portion of the community has a lot to share. There are many recreational opportunities here, such as, outdoor sports, school functions and Ballet and Theater productions. These are the envy of people from far away. We have become a bedroom community.
There are events in town for the people such as the Nativity and Christmas Parade, the Choctaw County Heritage Festival, the American Cancer Society's OktoberFest, the September 11th Annual Observance. The 9/11 service is where we show our appreciation for the local fire, police and emergency personnel, and the Military personnel that have given their life for the freedom to live the lives that we all have come to appreciate.
The town owns a 38 acre parcel of land for the purpose of creating an industrial park. We are very conscious of the infrastructure that is needed to support the growing rural area that we live in.
Personally, as mayor, I am serving the last year of my 2nd term, and don't have any plans to stop here. I have tried to always have the interest of the whole area and not just Gilbertown at heart.
Our town has always taken pride in the way the town looks to people traveling through on Highway 17, in the hopes that they will stop to visit. We take time for our visitors and our friends. So, please take advantage of the website, find out what we have going on currently, and come see us!
Thanks,
Bobby Graham, Mayor
